About Us

My wonderful husband, Richard and myself on the top of the Department of Interior, DC, May 2009
When we went to see our son, Jeff, get awarded the highest honor the department gives, the Medal of Valor, for helping save a man's life in a fire.
I have always been a creator, whether it was food, printing, publishing, fabric or whatever. I have now turned my creating to machine embroidery. When Richard accepted a job to be facilities manager of this private island, we made a major life style change over seven years ago. We packed up, left the kids and four grandchildren and moved to the Bahamas. It has been and continues to be a very interesting life and it has allowed me to do what I now love -- machine embroidery.
When we came to Bonefish Cay, the owners wanted t-shirts with the cay logo on them and I needed something to do. Instead of ordering the t-shirts already embroidered, I ordered them blank. Then I ordered a starter set for machine embroidery, it included a Brother machine with a 4x4 hoop and a Click n Stitch digitizing program. The very first thing I ever digitized was the Bonefish Cay logo and it didn't look too bad. But I knew I wanted it to look even better and to do that I had to learn to manually digitize.
I took some classes with Walter Floriani and Nita O'Keefe and purchased tutorials from good digitizers. I bought several different digitizing programs before I found the ones I was happiest with, Brother PeDesign and Embird. I practiced, practiced and then practiced some more. Now, I do all my digitizing in these programs and have had great success with them.
I won a digitizing contest with my fabric applique bowl, I had never even made a fabric bowl before! We also opened the Baby Bellies store in Arizona, took it and my embroidery designs online. The bad economy got Baby Bellies, but SewAZ Designs is going great. So, I have moved the embroidery designs, Floriani products and embroidery blanks to this new home.
A lot has changed since we left the Arizona desert for this island in the Bahamas, over seven years ago. When we left Leandra and Travis had Alex and Ian. Ian was only a couple months old, he is eight July, 2010. Our son, Jeff and his wife, BethAnne only had two kids, Ashleigh and Jared. They now have added Morgan and Lincoln. They all continue to inspire ideas for designs and projects. Moms and Grandmas must create lasting memories of hand made quilts, doll houses, animals and quirky skulls. LOL
I love creating the ITH projects and designs for us to make. I wake up in the middle of the night with new ideas. LOL Hoping I can remember them when I wake up. Please stay with me as we continue to create for our families, grandchildren and friends.
